| Convection | The transformation of heat by the circulation of air or water |
| Primary Pollutants | A pollutant that is emitted directly into the air |
| Secondary Pollutants | Pollutants that are not directly emitted as such, but forms when primary pollutants react in the atmosphere. |
| Ozone | A colorless unstable toxic gas with a pungent smell formed from oxygen by electrical discharges |
| Photochemical | Related to or caused by the chemical action of light. |
| Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) | Dangerous gases that cause damage to living organisms |
| Theory | A system of ideas intended to explain something |
| Climate | The weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period. |
| Smog | Fog or haze combined with smoke and other pollutants |
