Science circulatory system

| cardiovascular system | A system that consist of the heart, blood vessels, and blood |
| heart | hollow, muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the body |
| ventricle | lower chamber of heart pumps blood out of heart |
| valve | a flap of tissue that prevents blood from flowing backwards |
| pacemaker | sends out singnals that make the heart muscle contract |
| arteries | blood vessels that carry away from heart |
| capillaries | where substances are exchanged between blood and body cells |
| veins | carry blood back to heart |
| aorta | largest artery in the body |
| atrium | upper chambers of heart |
| plasma | liquid part of blood that carries nutrients, chemical messages and waste |
| red blood cells | take oxygen in the lungs and deliever it to cells in the body |
| hemogolbin | an iron-containing protein that binds chemically to oxygen molucus. Red blood cells are mostly made up of this |
| white blood cells | disease fighters |
| platelet | cell fragments that play an important role in blood clots |
| lymphatic system | a network of vein-like vessels that return fluid to blood stream |
| lymph | the fluid inside the lymphatic system |
| lymph node | filter lymph by trapping disease causing bacteria in the fluid |
| coronary arteries | a type of artery that carries blood to the heart |
| blood pressure | the force by which ventricles contract |
