Weathering
| Term | Definition |

| Uniformitarianism | The geologic principle that the same processes that operate today operated in the past. |
| Weathering | Chemical and physical process that breaks down rock and other substances |
| Frost wedging | Process that splits rock when water seeps into cracks, then freezes and expands |
| Abrasion | The grinding away or rock by other rock |
| Chemical Weathering | The process that breaks down rock through chemical changes, thus changing the mineral composition. |
| Humus | Dark organic material in the soil |
| Erosion | The process by which water, wind, ice, or gravity moves weathered particles of rock and soil |
| Creep | Slow downhill mass movement of rock and soil |
| Delta | A land-form made of sediment that is deposited where a river flows into an ocean or a lake. |
| Glacier | A large mass of ice that moves slowly over land |
| Beach | A coastal feature created by wave deposition |
| Loess | Particles of clay and silt deposited by the wind. |
| Fossils | Preserved remains or traces of an organism that lived in the past |
