convection the movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter and therefore less dense material t rise, and colder, denser material to sink under the influence of gravity, which consequently results in the transfer of heat.
law of conservation of matter conservation of mass: fundamental principle of classical physics that matter cannot be created or destroyed in an isolated system.
primary pollutants a pollutant which is emitted directly into the air.
climate the weather conditions prevailing in a general area or over a long period of time.
theory a supposition or a system of items intended to explain something.
volatile organic compound organic chemical that have a high vapor pressure at room temperature conditions.
photochemical of, related to, or caused by the chemical action of light.
smog fog or haze combined with smoke and other atmosphere pollutants.
ozone a colorless unstable toxic gas with a odor and powerful oxidizing properties, formed from oxygen by electrical discharges or ultraviolent light.
secondary pollutants a pollutant which is not directly emitted but forms when other pollutant, primary pollutants, react in the atmosphere.
