Advantage A benefit obtained by using a simple machine to help you do work..
Lever A simple machine that people use to gain a mechanical advantage to make work easier.
Pulley A wheel with a grooved rim in which a rope/wire can run to change the direction of the pull (force) while lifting the load.
Movable Pulley Has a wheel that is attached to the load and the moveable pulley gives a mechanical advantage.
Fixed Pulley Has a wheel that is attached to something above the load and the fixed pulley gives a directional advantage..
Newtons The unit of measurement for effort.
Simple Machines Basic devices that provide mechanical or directional advantages.
Work When a force acts on something over a distance either to LIFT or to overcome resistance.
