Three layers of skin and what they contain

Epidermis The outer thin layer of skin composed of epithelial tissue. Stratum corneum, Basal layer: Melanocytes
Melanocyte specialized skin cell that produces the protective skin-darkening pigment melanin
Dermis (Corium) Nerves, Vessels, glands, hair follicles
Subcutneous (hypodermis) Connctive tissue (mostly lipocytes) nerves, blood vessels
