| ligament | Tough band of tissue that connects bones to other bones. |
| simple fracture | A bone that has broken into 2 pieces and has NOT broken through the skin. |
| compound fracture | When the broken bone breaks through the skin. |
| sprain | When ligaments are overstretched or torn. |
| joint dislocation | When a bone is out of place. Commonly occur at the shoulder or hip. |
| arthritis | Swelling and redness of a joint. |
| osteoporosis | Bone tissue becomes brittle, thin, and spongy. |
| smooth muscles | The kind of muscle that makes up the many organs in the body. |
| cardiac muscles | The kind of muscle that makes up the walls of the human heart. |
| skeletal muscles | The kind of muscles that connect to bones and helps move the bones in the body. |
