Types of stress? Tension, Compression, and Shearing
What is syncline? A downward fold in Rock
Main faults? Normal, Reverse, and Strike-slip
What is Anticline? And upward fold in rocks
What is a plateau? A large flat area that is high above sea level
What is an Earthquake? It is the shaking and Trembling under the crust
What is the point directly above the focus called? The epicenter
What do P-waves do to the earth? They compress and expand the ground
What do S-waves do to the earth? Vibrate up and down
What do the surface waves do to the earth? Move up and down, or side to side
In what order do the waves arrive P wave, S-wave, and the Surface wave
What is a tilt meter? Measures the rise and fall of the ground
What is a Creep meter? a wire stretched across fault to measure horizontal motion
What is a Laser-Ranging device? a laser beam and reflectors to detect horizontal movement
What is a GPS satellite's do? Measures position of markers along faults
