Growth hormone Controls growth and development
Melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH) qStimulates melanocytes to increase skin pigmentation
Prolactin (PRL) Stimulates milk secretion by the mammary glands
Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) Stimulates the cortex of the adrenal glands
Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) Stimulates the thyroid gland
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) Stimulates the development of the ova in the ovaries and sperm in the testes
Luteinizing hormone (LH) Stimulates the secretion of sex hormones by the gonads.
Oxytocin (OT) Stimulates contractions of the uterus and the release of milk by the mammary glands
Antidiruetic hormone (ADH) Stimulates water reabsorption by the kidney
Thyroxine and triiodothyronine (T3) Controls catabolic metabolism and protein synthesis in most body cells
Calcitonin (CT) Reduces calcium and phosphate levels in the blood
Parathyroid hormone Increases calcium levels in the blood and reduces phosphate levels
Epinephrine and norepinephrine Prolong the conditions responsible for the "fight or flight" response.
Mineralcorticoids (aldosterone) Maintain body fluid balance by stimulating the retention of sodium and excreting potassium; help regulate blood pressure
Glucocorticoids Stimulate glycogen formation and storage, increase body resistance to stress and reduce inflammation
Sex hormones (androgens and estrogens) Stimulate sex characteristics and sex cell development
Glucagon Stimulates the conversion of glycogen to glucose
Insulin Stimulates the conversion of glucose to glycogen and glucose uptake in the body
Estrogens Stimulate the development of female sex characteristics, ovarian cycle and menstrual cycle
Testosterone Stimulates the development of male sex characteristics and sperm production
Melatonin May inhibit gonad activities and regulate body rhythms
Thymosin Stimuate the maturation of T-lymphocytes
