| Water pressure | The downward push of water in a given area |
| Continental shelf | The part of the ocean floor the drops gently |
| Continental slope | The part of the ocean floor that drops steeply |
| Abyssal plain | A large flat area on the ocean floor |
| Wave | A disturbance that carries energy through matter or space |
| Current | water that flows like a river toward the ocean |
| Tide | The repeated rise and fall of the water level of the ocean |
| Shore | The area where water and land meet and interact |
| Headland | A point of land where hard rock is left and other materials are washed away |
| Tide pool | A temporary pool of water that gets trapped when the tide goes out |
| Jetty | A wall-like structure that prevents sand from being washed away |
