Unit B Chapter 3 Vocabulary

energy The ability to do work.
stored energy Energy that can change later into a form that can do work.
energy of motion Energy that moving objects have.
conductor A material through which energy flows easily.
insulator A material through which energy cannot flow easily.
fuel A material that is burned to produce useful heat.
temperature A measure of how hot a place or object is.
ray A thin line of light.
reflect To bounce back.
lens A piece of material that bends light rays that pass through it.
electric charges Tiny amounts of electricity present in all matter.
electric current The flow of electric charges.
electric circuit The path along which electric current moves.
electromagnet A metal that becomes a magnet when electricity passes through wire wrapped around it.
