Matter | is anything that has both mass and volume |
Pollutant | a substance that pollutes something, esp. water or the atmosphere. |
Volume | the amount of space that a substance or object occupies, or that is enclosed within a container, esp. when great. |
Mass | is a measure of the number of atoms in it. |
Atom | the basic unit of a chemical element. |
Molecule | a group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction. |
Compound | a thing that is composed of two or more separate elements; a mixture. |
Pure substance | pure substance is a sample of matter with both definite and constant composition with distinct chemical properties. |
Physical change | a change from one state (solid or liquid or gas) to another without a change in chemical composition |
Chemical change | any process determined by the atomic and molecular composition and structure of the substances involved |
Photosynthesis | the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. Photosynthesis in plants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generates oxygen as a byproduct. |
