Earthquakes

TermDefinition
Earthquakes Vibrations that move through rock or other earth materials.
Fault The surface of where a rock was broken.
Seismic waves Another name for an Earthquake wave.
Focus The point inside Earth where movement occurs and energy is released.
Seismograph The instrument used to obtain record of seismic waves.
Magnitude The height of the lines traced on the paper is a measure of the energy released by the earthquake.
Tsunami Seismic sea waves
Seismic safe A building that is save enough to stand up to the vibrations caused by most earthquakes.
