Epiphysis The end of a long bone
Articular Cartilage Hyaline cartilage that covers ends of bones in synovial joints
Cartilage Type of connective tissue with cells in lacunae seperated by a semisolid extracellular matrix
Diaphysis A sheetlike struucture largely composed of skeletal muscle and connective tissue that seperate thoracic and abdominal cavities:also, a caplike contraceptive device insertes in the vagina
Periosteum Fibrous connective tissue covering on the surface of a bone
Compact Bone Dense tissue in which cells are organized in osteons with no spaces
Spongy Bone Bone that consists of bars and plates seperated by irregular spaces:cancellous bone
Medullary cavity Cavity containing marrow within the diaphysis of a long bone
Endosteum Tisue lining the medullar cavity within a bone
Marrow Connective tissue spaces within the bones that includes blood-florming stem and progenitor cells
