Epiphysis | The end of a long bone |
Articular Cartilage | Hyaline cartilage that covers ends of bones in synovial joints |
Cartilage | Type of connective tissue with cells in lacunae seperated by a semisolid extracellular matrix |
Diaphysis | A sheetlike struucture largely composed of skeletal muscle and connective tissue that seperate thoracic and abdominal cavities:also, a caplike contraceptive device insertes in the vagina |
Periosteum | Fibrous connective tissue covering on the surface of a bone |
Compact Bone | Dense tissue in which cells are organized in osteons with no spaces |
Spongy Bone | Bone that consists of bars and plates seperated by irregular spaces:cancellous bone |
Medullary cavity | Cavity containing marrow within the diaphysis of a long bone |
Endosteum | Tisue lining the medullar cavity within a bone |
Marrow | Connective tissue spaces within the bones that includes blood-florming stem and progenitor cells |
