Reading Genres

QuestionAnswer
What is a fable? It has talking animals and a lesson to learn.
What is non-fiction? It is full of facts. It can deal with math, science, or social studies.
What is a fantasy? It has make-believe characters and impossible events. It can be in the past or present.
What is a legend? It tells a realistic story but has a hero.
What is a biography? It is the story about someone's life. Told by another person. Has he or she pronouns.
What is an autobiography? It is the story about someone's life told by that same person. Has I or me pronouns.
What is fiction? It has make-believe characters, and animals that talk. No lesson to be learned.
What is the THEME? an IDEA about what the whole story is about- friendship, kindness.
What is a POEM? It usually has rhyming words or rhythmic words. It has lines and stanzas.
