What is the nursing role regarding Fluid and electrolytes? To prevent and treat imbalances
What are the 2 compartements that the body fluid is distributed into? intracellular and Extracellular
What makes up all fluid within the body cells? Intracelluar fluid
Extracellular fluid is divided into 3 compartments, name them: Interstitial fluid, intravascular fluid, transcellular fluid
Where is the intersitial fluid? fluid between the cells, outside the blood vessels
intravascular fluids are where? blood plasma
Where is transcellular fluid? CSF, Pleural fluid, peritonal fluids, and synovial, urine, digestive secreations, sweat, pericardial fluids.
What is a positive charged ion called? ex? Cation Sodium Potassium Calcium
What is a negative charged ion called? ex? anions chloride bicarbonate Sulfate
What is osmosis? Process by which water moves across a semi-permeable membrane from an area of low concentration to an area of higher concentration
Osmolality refers to what? amount of solutes per liter of solution
