EMT NAIT Pharmacology Dosages

Dextrose 50% in Water (D50W) Adult Dose 0.5-1.0 g/kg Slow IVP (second dose may be given if first dose ineffective)
Dextrose 50% in Water (D50W) Pediatric Dose 0.5-1.0 g/kg of D25W (2-4mls/kg)slow IVP

Acetylsalicylic Acid 160-325mg po- chew before swallowing, give even if Pt has taken own ASA
Ipratropium Bromide (Atrovent) Adult Dose 250-500mcg via nebulizer with salbutamol (mixed) repeat up to 2x if necessary Combivent 2.5-5.0ml nebule q 10 min prn (not to exceed max dose for atrovent MDI minimum 1-4 puffs prn max 10
Ipratropium Bromide (Atrovent) Pediatric Dose (ages 5-11) 25-250 mcg with Salbutamol (mixed) via nebulizer up to 2x if necessary MDI minimum 2 puffs max 4
Nitrous Oxide (Entonox) Adult/Pediatric- Self administered by patient for relief of pain
Salbutamol (Ventolin) Adult Dose 2.5-5.0 mg nebule q 10 minutes prn MDI Minimum 6 puffs max 20
Salbutamol (Ventolin) Pediatric Dose 0.15 mg/kg diluted to 2.5 ml saline via nebulizer OR <10kg give 1.25 mg with NS to 2.5 ml 10-20 kg give 2.5 mg >20kg give 2.5-5.0 mg MDI pediatrics minimum 2 puff max 10
Epinephrine Adult Dose 0.3 mg (1:1000) IM q 5-10 minutes prn
Epinephrine Pediatric Dose .01 mg/kg IM (do not exceed 0.3 mg)
Glucagon Adult Dose 1 mg IM q 15-20 minutes prn
Glucagon Pediatric Dose <5 yrs 0.5 mg IM >5 yrs 1.0 mg IM
Nitroglycerine Adult Dose 0.3 mg tablet or 1 spray (0.4mg) SL q 5 minutes prn max of 3 doses or BP <100sys
Glucose (oral) Adult/Pediatric Dose 25g po slowly until improvement is noted
