| Term | Definition |

| cold front | A boundary between two air masses, one cold and the other warm, moving so that the colder air replaces the warmer air. |
| warm front | The boundary between two air masses, one cool and the other warm, moving so that the warmer air replaces the cooler air. |
| cirrus | Thin, wispy clouds that form high in the atmosphere as their water vapor freezes into ice crystals |
| cumulus | Fluffy, mid-level clouds that develop in towering shapes and signal fair weather. |
| stratus | Low-lying, gray and sheet-like clouds that often produce drizzle. |
| forecast | - the application of science and technology to predict the weather |
| precipitation | - water in any form falling from clouds. |
| high pressure | A whirling mass of cool, dry air that generally brings fair weather and light winds. |
| low pressure | A whirling mass of warm, moist air that generally brings stormy weather with strong winds. |
