Science Ocean Terms

TermDefinition
Tide Daily rising and falling in a regular cycle of Earth's waters on its coast, at hightide waves hit father up the beach than at low tide.
Current Flow of water in a larger body of water.
Waves Cause most of erosion and deposition on a bigger wave-more erosion.
Barrier Island A small island along a coastline formed by deposition protect the coastline. There shape always changes. EX: H. Hon Head.
Inlets Constantly change over time. Openings between barrier is lands. Waves and tides change. Water level and salinity cammount of slat.
Inlet Allows water to flow between barrier islands.
Shoreline It is when water meets.
Tidal Marsh Are swampy areas along the ocean.
