What is the Scientific Method? The Scientific Method is a process of investigation using observations and experiments.
What is a Hypothesis? A Hypothesis is an educated guess based on observations.
What is Data? Data consists of all the measurements, observations or any other information gathered from experiments.
What is a Theory? A Theory is a hypothesis that has been supported by many different experiments.
What is a Principle? A Principle arises from a Theory that has been shown to be valid when fully tested over a long period of time.
State what a variable is. A variable is a factor that may change in an experiment.
What is a control? A control is a standard for comparison.
Why would you use a control? To compare your results.
State the stages of the Scientific Method. 1. Making Observations. 2. Forming a Hypothesis. 3. Carrying out Experiments 4. Observing the Results
What are experiments based on? 1. Careful planning and design 2. Safe procedures 3. Establishing a control 4. Fair Procedures
Name some of the fair procedures used while conducting an experiment.
