Why do we Classify? We Classify to make communication about organisms easier.
Who Classifies? Anyone, and everyone can do it.
Why do Biologists Classify? To make communication about organisms easier for them, and everyone else.
What did the shoe activity show us about Classification? Classification is a trying process because everyone participating in it has to agree on the same name, and everyone has their own opinion on what it should be.
What were some of the group names we could not use in the shoe activity?Why? 1.Pretty,ugly,smelly,gross. 2.We could not agree on them because they were opinions.
Why did we always have to agree on a group name in the Shoe Activity? Because otherwise that certain specimen would not have been classified.
What do Taxonomic and Dichotomous Keys do? They help us to classify organisms.
How are Taxonomic Keys used? You would go through each pair of couplets, until you find the specific organism you are looking for.
Why are groups in a Taxonomic key divided into only two other groups? the two groups are usually the opposite of each other, so you can just pick the one that describes your organism the most.
What are couplets? A pair of statements in a Taxonomic key.
What do Subjective and Objective mean? Subjective:An opinion, not a fact, something that is able to be debated. Objective: A fact.
