Conservation of Mass Matter is never created or destroyed. Matter will only rearrange itself

Ionic Compound A metal + nonmetal
Covalent Compound A nonmetal + nonmetal
Lewis Dot Structure Shows how elements bond together with valence electrons.
Substance A material of a particular kind
Heterogeneous Mixture Differing in kind; consisting of dissimilar parts
Homogeneous Mixture Being the same throughout
Solution A homogeneous mixture formed by this process
Solute A dissolved substance
Precipitate The process of separating a solid substance from a liquid
Solvent A liquid substance that is used to dissolve another substance
Physical Change When the form or appearance of matter change
Vaporization To change into a vapor
Condensation The process of which a gas turns into a liquid
Sublimation Solid changes directly to a gas
Deposition An act Or processing of depositing
Chemical Change When a new substance is formed
