| Gene | Segment of DNA |
| Phenotype | Physical Appearance determined by your genotype |
| Dominant | Most common trait |
| Recessive | Least common trait |
| Heterozygous | A dominant and recessive trait. For example, Bb. |
| Homozygous | Both the same type of trait, either dominant or recessive. For example, TT or tt. |
| Trait | A gene contributed to you by your parents. |
| Genotype | The genes that make up your phenotype. |
| Incomplete Dominance | Rr being pink. A mix of a dominant and recessive allele. |
| Codominance | Red and white. Rr |
| Carrier | Carries and can pass along a disease but doesn't have it. |
| Karyotype | Image used for genetic screening. |
| Paleontology | The study of fossils or extinct organisms. |
| Geography | Different climates, food sources, predators, habitats, result in animals that look similar but have different beneficial adaptations so are different species. |
| Fossils | Are found in layers of rock, top layer are youngest, bottom layer are oldest. |
| Embryology | Study of embryos and their development |
| Homologous Structures | Body parts that are similar but used differently. |
| Analogous Structures | Body parts that preform a similar function but are not similar in origin. |
| Vestigial Structures | Small leftover body parts that had a function in early ancestors but have no use today. |
