Volcano An opening in the earth's crust from which molten rock and steam issue.
Giant tortoise The tortoise that is found on the Galapogos Islands that the Spanish called a saddle turtle. They were taken by the Spanish and stored on board ship for fresh meat as they can live up to 1 year without eating.
Galapagos Islands Islands formed by volcanos found in the Pacific Ocean at the equator.
Equator The line that marks 0 degrees at the middle of the earth.
Galapagos Sea Lions Sea Lions that live on the Galapagos Islands.
Galapagos Pengiuns The only penguins that are found at the equator.
Pacific Ocean One of the four oceans that is off the West Coast of North, Middle, and South America.
Marine Iguana The only Iguana that swims that is found in the Galapagos Islands
Frigates Birds that are called the Pirates of the Air as they cannot catch fish, therefore, they attack other birds to make them drop their fish and take it away from them.
Lava Cactus Cactus that grows on one of the lava flows in the Galapagos.
Goats Animals that were introduced by the Spanish to the islands so they could have fresh milk and meat. They then became invasive.
Lava Lizard Iguana, Lizards that do not swim in the water but live on the land.
Mangrove Forest The forest growing in the Galapogos Islands.
