work the use of force to move an object some distance in the direction of the foce.
energy the ability to do work.
power the rate at which work is done.
kinetic energy the energy of motion.
potential energy the energy an object has because of its postion, conditions, or chemical composition.
mechanical energy the energy possessed by an object due to its motion and position.
machine any device that helps people do work by changing the way work is done.
mechancial advantage the number of times the mechine multiplies the input force.
mechanical effciency a comparison of a machine's work output with the work input.
lever a simple machine that has a bar that pivots at a fixed point.
fulcrum the fixed point.
wheel and axle a simple machine that is made of a wheel connected to a smaller cylindrical object, the axle
pulley a simple machine that has a grooved wheel that holds a rope or a cable.
inclined plane a simple machine that is a starght, slanted surface.
