| Power | the rate at which work is done |
| Kinetic Energy | the energy of motion |
| Potential Energy | the energy an object has because of its position |
| Mechanical Energy | the energy possessed by an object due to its motion and position |
| Machine | any device that helps people do work by changing the way work is done |
| Mechanical Advantage | the number of times the machine multiplies the input force |
| Mechanical Efficiency | a comparison of a machine's work output with the machine's work input |
| Lever | a simple machine that has a bar that pivots at a fixed point |
| Fulcrum | the fixed point on a lever |
| Wheel and Axel | a simple machine that is made of a wheel connected to a smaller cylindrical object, the axel |
| Pulley | a simple machine that has a grooved wheel that holds a rope or a cable |
| Inclined Plane | a simple machine that is a straight, slanted surface |
