How Matter Changes

| Chemical Reaction | Another term for a chemical change |
| Dissolve | To mix completely with another substance to form a solution |
| Energy | The ability to cause change |
| Heat | The flow of thermal energy from a warmer area to a cooler area |
| Mixture | Matter made up of two or more substances or materials that are physically combined |
| Physical Change | A change in size, shape, or state of matter that does not create a new kind of matter |
| Product | A substance formed in a chemical reaction |
| Reactant | A substance that enters a chemical reaction |
| Solution | A mixture in which the particles of one kind of matter are mixed evenly with the particles of other kinds of matter |
| temperature | A measure of how hot or cold matter is |
| Thermal Energy | The total kinetic energy of tiny moving particles of matter |
