| Bio-Social-Psycho-(Spiritual) | The different lenses people look through in order to understand other people. |
| Tourette's Syndrome | A neurological disorder by ticks, vocalization and often obscenities. |
| Lyme Disease | Caused by bacteria that is transmitted by ticks. |
| ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) | A disease that attacks the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. |
| Suicide | The act of killing oneself individually. |
| Learning Disabilities | An imperfect disability in certain areas of learning such as reading, writing and math. |
| Addiction | The condition of being addicted to a substance, thing or activity. |
| Primary Prevention | Without regard with level of risk, just going to give you something to prevent the problem. |
| Secondary Prevention | Working with people at elevated risks to have a problem; targeting in an effort to prevent the problem. |
| Tertiary Prevention | Intervention to prevent deterioration. |
| HIV/AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) | A virus infection that attacks your T-Cells, or C4-Cells. If you have AIDS, you have a badly damaged immune system. |

| COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) | A disease in which is makes it hard to breathe. |
| Diabetes | A metabolic disease in which the body has elevated levels of glucose in the blood. |
| Cardiac Health | Exercising. |
| Alzheimer's Disease | A progressive disease that causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. |
| Dementia | Severe impairment or loss of intellectual capacity and personality integration due to the loss of or damage to neurons in the brain. |
| Chaos Theory | Systems/Organizations tend to deteriorate overtime... leading to chaos. |
| Synergy | Systems come together to produce a greater impact/efficiency. |
| Entropy | The tendency of systems to become disorganized to disintegrate or to run down/die. |
| Boundaries | A line between those that belong and those that don't. |
| Homeostasis | Balance; all systems seek balance -- resistant to change. |
| Neurotransimitter | Chemical substance released at the end of a nerve fiber by a nerve impulse. |
| Autism | A mental condition in which there is difficulty in communicating and forming relationships using language. |
| Dendrites | Fibers that carry information towards the body. |
| Muscular Dystrophy | A hereditary condition marked by progressive weakening and wasting of the muscles. |
| Mental Health | A psychological state of someone who is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioral adjustment. |
| Why should social workers understand the biological base of human behavior? | There is a biological base to every behavior. Basic knowledge on human behavior always connects to their health and as social workers, being informed gives us optimal treatment effectiveness. |
