| Arteries | Carry blood away from the heart |
| Atrium | Two upper chambers in the heart that receive blood |
| Blood | A tissue made up of several types of cells and a liquid called plasma |
| Capillaries | Connects arteries to veins |
| Circulation | The movement of blood through your body |
| Circulatory system | Includes the heart, blood vessels, and the blood. They work together to carry oxygen to cells and to carry waste from cells back to the heart |
| Heart | A muscular body part about the size of your fist |
| Platelets | Parts of cells that can stick together to help blood clot, or thicken |
| Pulse | The throbbing caused by blood rushing into the arteries each time the ventricles contract |
| Red blood cells | The cells that carry oxygen from the lungs to the heart. Oxygen-rich blood is bright red. |
| Veins | Carry blood to the heart |
| Ventricle | Two lower chambers of the heart that pump blood out |
| White blood cells | The cells that fight disease-causing germs. They also remove dead cells. |
