Earth's rotation? Spins on axis, takes 24 hours, causes days and nights, counter-clockwise, rotates west to east
Earth's revolution? Motion of Earth traveling around the sun, takes 365.25 days, counter- clockwise path is called an orbit,the shape of the orbit is slightly elliptical.
Why does the Earth revolve around the Sun? Gravity attracts all objects toward one another.
How far is the Earth from the Sun? 1 astronomical unit or 149,597,871 kilometers away.
Isolation? The amount of visible sunlight from the Sun.
Earth's Tilt? Causes seasons, 23.5 degrees obliquity, causes changes in the angle of the sun's rays.
Seasons in the Northern Hemisphere? Spring (Vernal) Equinox is in March. Fall (Autumnal) Equinox is in September. Days and nights are 12 hours each. Summer Solstice=Tropic of Cancer. Winter Solstice= Tropic of Capricorn. Arctic Circle.
Seasons in the Southern Hemisphere? Fall equinox in March. Spring equinox in September. Antarctic Circle.
