Vocabulary WordDefinition
scientific method the process of asking questions and then doing careful investigations to find the answers to those questions
hypothesis a predicted answer to a scientific question
variable anything that can change in an experiment. You must keep all of these the same, except the one you are testing.
testable can be observed and measured
control a feature that is not changed in an experiment
observations information you collect using your senses
estimate to make an educated guess about the size or number of things that you cannot measure directly
trial each repeated experiment. A good experiment is done more than once to be sure answers are correct
data table a chart that organizes data collected in an experiment
conclution an explanation of what data show
data information collected during a scientific investigation
