| Arthropods- | animals with exoskeleton, jointed legs and body segments like insects, crustaceans, centipedes, millipedes & arachnids. |
| appendages | arms, legs, wings, antenna,or claws on an animal |
| exoskeleton | hard outer covering on some invertevrates |
| molting | the shedding of an exoskeleton and replacing it. |
| Insects | animals with 3 body segments, 6 legs,exoskeleton and some have antenna |
| spiracles | breathing holes on insects |
| Incomplete Metamorphosis | animal cycle that includes egg, nymph and adult |
| Complete Metamorphosis | animal cycle that includes egg, larva, pupa and adult |
| Arachnids | animals with 2 body segments, exoskeleton and 8 legs. |
| Centipedes | animals that is a carnivore with many body segments with two legs per segments and has an exoskeleton |
| Millipedes | animals that is a herbivore with many body segments with four legs per segments and has an exoskeleton |
| Crustaceans | animals with 2 body segments, gills, claws, and exoskeleton |
| Annelids | another name for segmented worms |
| setae | bristles on the segmented worms |
| crop | food storage bag for annelids |
| gizzard | grinds the food for annelids |
| Polychaetes | means "many bristles" also another name for Marine Worms |
| mantle | thin skin that produces the shell on mollusks |
| Open Circulatory System | blood that flows throughout the body cavity |
| Closed Circulatory System | blood that flows in vessels within the body |
| radula | tongue-like structure with rows of teeth on some mollusks |
| Gastropod | Mollusk that means "stomach-foot" like in snails or slugs |
| Cephalopod | Mollusk that means "head-footed" like on an octopus or a squid. |
| Bivalves | mollusks with two shells like clams or scallops |
