Major Depressive Disorder Depressed mood or loss of interest in pleasurable activities.
Dysthymia Similar to, but more mild than MDD. Feeling “down in the dumps.”
Seasonal Affective Disorder type of depression that occurs at a certain time of the year, usually in the winter.
Bipolar I associated with mood swings that range from the lows of depression to the highs of mania
Bipolar II Major depression with bouts of hypomania
Cyclothymia a mild form of bipolar disorder with hypomania and depressed mood
What does a manic patient need? Fluids, food, rest (in that order)
Vagus Nerve Stimulation large and sustained antidepressant effect
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation causes depolarization or hyperpolarization of neurons in the brain
