Reading Comprehension

TermDefinition
Antonym The author gives a word that means the opposite of the unknown word
Synonym The author gives the reader another word that means the same or nearly the same as the unknown word
Assumption A set of beliefs that the writer has about the subject.
Context Clue Refers to the prthe author in th words or sentences surrounding the unknown words or words
Cannotation refers to the emotions or feelings that the reader attaches to words
Inference is a educated guess or conclusion drawn by the reader based on the available facts and information.
What should the summary include? The main idea of the passage, with major supporting detail.
