| chloroplast | cell organelle containing chlorophyll for photosynthesis |
| chromosome | rod-shaped cell structure that passes on traits of a cell to a new cell (passes on genetic information) |
| cytoplasm | region between the cell membrane and the nucleus (goo that fills the cell) |
| division of labor | division of work among different parts of the body (divides up the work of the body) |
| endoplasmic reticulum | tubular passageways in a cell that transports substances (transport system in a cell) |
| lysosome | small, round structure that digests wastes in a cell (cleans up a cell) |
| mitochondrion | powerhouse of the cell (gives a cell its energy) |
