When a rock breaks down through chemical change

| Acids in groundwater | When acids react with the rock on the ground with it and a chemical reaction occurs that dissolves the rock forming karst feature such as caverns. | |
| Acids in living things | Lichens can grow on the sides of rocks and produce acid on the rock which then breaks the rock down | |
| Oxidation | A chemical reaction in which an element such as iron combines with oxygen to form an oxide aka rust. | |
| Water | When water dissolves something when it comes in contact with it. |
