organ a structure in the body that performs a specific function
pancreas an organ that helps digest starches and protiens; it also produces insulin which helps control sugar levels in the blood
liver an organ that that produces bile to help digest fat and filters blood of alcohol and amonia
kidney an organ that removes waste from the blood and extra water
artery a blood vessel that carries oxygenated blood away from the heart
vein a blood vessel that carries deoxygenated blood back to the heart
stomach mixes up food and adds acid to help digest food
esophagus tube made of smooth muscle that brings food from mouth to stomach
small intestine where capillaries take out nutrients to bring to body cells
large intestines where waste is eliminated and capillaries take out water to be brought to kidneys and cleaned
bladder holds urine until it's released
heart pumps blood throughout the body
lungs bring in oxygen and get rid of carbon dioxide
vertebrae or backbone support the body to stand
