Weathering
| Term | Definition |

| release of pressure | when the layer on top of a rock is so weak it can be move by gravity, As erosion removes material from the surface of a mass of rock, pressure on the rock is reduced. This release of pressure causes the outside of the rock to crack and flake off |
| freezing and thawing | water freezes in a crack in a rock, it expands and makes the crack bigger |
| abrasion | When two rocks rub against another and smooth each other. |
