OH 3rd Grade Soil Unit

minerals all rocks are made up of two or more of these
geology the study of earth, its history, and especially its rocks

sedimentary formed in layers pressed together over the years
soil loose material that covers much of the earth
loam soil that contains equal amounts of sand, silt, and clay
humus material in soil produced by the decomposition of vegetable/animal matter that is needed to fertilize the soil
bedrock the bottom layer of soil
topsoil layer of soil best for growing plants
clay type of sticky soil with small grains and water does not move through it easily
weathering the breaking up or wearing away of rocks
sand type of rough soil with large grains and space in between the grains
