| Inceptisols | A/Bw/C , Cambic Bw, umbric second to youngest soil; Bw take 5,000 yrs -ept |
| Aridisols | aridic moisture regime ochric epipedon, no mollic salt and silica at depth dry > 50% year -id |
| Mollisols | mollic epipedon, BS > 50% generally found under grasslands -oll |
| Alfisols | Bt (at least 15,000 yrs), red, usually ochric BS > 35% -alf |
| Spodosols | spodic horizon; Bs no E mandatory forest soil -od |
| Ultisols | Bt with low BS (< 35% in Bt) really thick Bt 1 million yrs red, old, well-developed and leached forest soils -ult |
| Oxisols | lateritic soils; high Fe and Al, no argillic red; jungle type of soil - old, leached red brick Cambodia, SE Asia -ox |
