How does the structure of the alveoli relate to its function? 1. Moist lining allows for gases to dissolve 2. Alveolar sac is a single cell layer which allows for easier diffusion of gases.
How does the structure of the pleural membranes relate to its function? Membranes are fluid-filled which reduces friction between lung and chest cavity during inhalation.
Put these terms in the correct sequence for inhalation: bronchioles, alveoli, nasal passages, pharynx, bronchi, trachea nasal passages, pharynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli
Describe the uploading of oxygen in the blood. Oxygen diffuses into the red blood cell and attaches to the hemoglobin molecule (Hb).
What is oxyhemoglobin, HbO2 ? When oxygen reacts with hemoglobin it forms oxyhemoglobin, which is then transported in this form to the tissues throughout the body.
Put these terms in the correct sequence for the pathway of carbon dioxide: alveolar capillaries, alveoli epithelial cells, tissue capillaries, tissue cells, alveolar spaces tissue cells, tissue capillaries, alveolar capillaries, alveolar epithelial cells, alveolar spaces
Describe the unloading of oxygen. Oxygen detatches from the hemoglobin molecule, Hb, and diffuses from capillary into tissues.
