Metabolism encompasses all the chemical reactions involved in the capture, storage, and utilization of energy in a cell, and it is fundamental necessity for every living thing
consumers which aquire energy by eating producers or other consumers
photosynthesis which captures light energy to make sugars from carbon dioxide
energy carriers small organic molecules specialized for recieving, storing, and delivering energy within the cell.
ATP adenosine triphosphate
chloroplasts special organelles that have extensive network of internal membranes
chlorophyll specaial organelles that have membranes with a green pigment
Stomata microscopic pores
thylakoids sacs that lie on top of any other stacks
proton gradient an imbalance in the proton concentration
ATP synthase large channel-containing protein
rubisco catalyzes the first reaction of the calvin cycle
anaerobic does not require oxygen (O2.)
aerobic requires energy
fermentation begins with glycolosis followed by a special set of reactions whose only rolse is to help perpetuate glycolosis
Krebs Cycle releases carbon dioxide and generates energy carriers
citric acid a six-carbon compound; it produces when the two carbon acetyl group is added to a four carbon accepter
