Beat, Rhythm, Melody

Rhythm A pattern of long and short notes which fit around the beat. A number of different note values are used to show how long each musical sound should last.
Melody Part of the song you might sing or play. It is made up of notes of different pitches.
Pitch How high or low a note sounds
Beat Pulse that is felt in music. It may be fast or slow but it is always regular.
Time Signature Indicates the number of beats in a bar.
Semibreve 4 Beats
Minim 2 Beats
Crotchet 1 Beat
Dotted Minim 3 Beats
Quaver Half a Beat
Dotted Crotchet One and Half Beats
Time Signature Indicates the number of beats in a bar
Common Time [C] Four beats in a bar- 4/4 time.
Bar Lines Show where the bars start and finish
Music Phrase A group of bars that can be sung in one breath. It uasually ends with a long note or rest.
