energy the ability to cause a change in matter; the capacity to do work
temperature a measure of how hot or how cold something is
friction a force that tries to stop or slow down an object in motion
conductor a material that heat travels through easily
insulator a material that heat does not travel through easily
stored energy energy in matter that can cause matter to move or change
chemical energy is stored in matter; ex. fuels= gas, coal, wood
solar energy energy from the sun
absorb to soak up
gravity a force that pulls everything toward an object such as Earth
sound a force of energy that is made by things moving or vibrating
force something that pushes or pulls on things
reflection when light bounces off of something
kinetic energy energy of motion
potential energy energy that is stored and not used yet
electricity a form of energy created when electrons move around
