melanin major skin pigment. it is formed by melanocytes in the epidermis
sebum oily substance secreted by sebaceous glands
squamous epithelium flat, scale-like cells composing the epidermis
polyp growth extending from the surface of mucous membrane
alopecia areata: an autoimmune disease in which hair falls out in patches without scarring or inflammation
acne chronic papular and pustular eruption of the skin with increased production of sebum
gangrene death of tissue associated with loss of blood supply
callus Increased growth of cells in the keratin layer of the epidermis caused by pressure or friction A *corn* is a type of callus that develops a hard sore (a white, corn like central kernel) .
basal cell carcimona malignant tumor of the basal cell layers in the epidermis it is most frequent type of skin cancer.slow growing usually occurs in chronically sun-exposed skin, especially near tor on the nose. it almost never metastasizes.
squamous cell carcinoma malignant tumor of the squamous epithelial cells in the epidermis. this tumor may grow in places other than the skin, wherever squamous epithelium is found.
malignant melanoma cancerous growth composed of melanocytes
