Plant vocabulary
| Term | Definition |

| Spore | A single cell that can develop into a new plant that produced it |
| Angiosperm | A seed plant that produces flowers |
| Gymnosperm | A seed plant that does not produce flowers |
| seed | an undeveloped plant with stored food inside a protective coat |
| pollination | the movement of pollen to the seed-making part of a flower |
| xylem | tissue that moves water and minerals up from the roots |
| phloem | tissue that moves food (sugar)from the leaves to other parts of a plant |
| cambium | a layer of cells that makes xylem and phloem |
| photosynthesis | how a plant changes raw materials into food in the presence of sunlight |
| non-vascular plants | no roots, stems or leaves |
| vascular plants | there are roots, stems and leaves |
| capsule | it is filled with thousands of spores |
| transport system | a system in the plant that moves water, minerals, and sugars throughout the plant |
| evergreens | these plants are vascular, no flowers, and stay green all year long; pine trees |
