Atoms - Chapter 4 Vocab

WordDefinition
Nucleus the very small center core of an atom
Isotope Atoms of the same element, that have a different number of neutrons in their nuclei
Electrons Move rapidly around the nucleus and have a negative electric charge
Protons have a positive electric charge
Nucleus The tiny, extremely dense, positively charged region in the center of an atom; made up of protons and neutrons
Neutrons have no charge
Atomic Number The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
Atomic Mass The number of neutrons plus the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
