endangered species a species of plant or animal of which numbers are decreasing at alarming rate and is threatened with extinction by human-made or natural changes in the environment
instinct a behavior an animal is born with and does not have to be learned
camouflage the shape, color, or pattern of an animal that helps it blend in with its surroundings
hibernation a deep sleeplike state where an animals body processes slow down
mimicry when one organism looks like another organism so that it can escape predators or catch prey
migration the seasonal movement of animals from one place to another
extinct no longer existing on the earth
