How did the Earth form? The earth was a ball of ice, dust and rock. Gravity pulled mass together and it grew. The core formed
How old is the Earth? 4.6 Billion years old
How long ago was the first life on earth? About 3.5 Billion years ago
The single cell organisms are similar to what A. Plants B. Bacteria C. Trees B. Bacteria
How do scientist determine the age of the earth? By radioactive dating
What is the definition of relative age? Estimated age compared to other rocks
What is the definition of fossils? Preserved remains/traces of living things
What do fossils show? Evidence that life forms were around and how old they were
What does the mold and cast do to the fossil? I it helps it preserve it.
How is a fossil formed? 1.Animal or plant dies, sinks in shallow water 2.Sediment covers the animal 3.Sediment becomes rock 4.Weathering & exposure eventually expose fossil at surface.
What part of the fossil get saved and why? Hard, because it doesn't decay and stays together.
How does a index fossil help scientist? To match rock layers
