What is the format in which the PROBLEM should be written? In the form of a QUESTION
What are some examples of how information is gathered? 1. Talk to other people 2. Research/read 3. Internet 4. Use your senses
What is a hypothesis? An educated guess
What are the guidelines for writing a hypothesis? 1. Use and IF...THEN...statement 2. Do NOT use words that indicate a feeeling such as, "I think...I feel...I believe" 3. Must include YOUR observations 4. Must be TESTABLE
How can data be organized in Step 5 of the Scienctific Method? (Record and Analyze Data) Use CHARTS and TABLES
When drawing a conclusion (at the end of the study), what do we do if our hypothesis is INCORRECT? Make a new hypothesis and do the experiment AGAIN!
Why do we perform Step 7 (Repeat Your Work)of the Scientific Method? To make sure our results are ACCURATE
Dependent Variable The variable that you are MEASURING in the results
Independent Variable The variable that you TESTING or MANIPULATING
Controlled Variables The variables you want to stay the SAME - if they do not they can affect the outcome of the experiment.
